Summer is officially here, and as a mom and photographer based right here in Palm Beach County, I’m always on the lookout for fun, kid-friendly places where we can make memories and get beautiful photos along the way. This summer, my kids and I have been exploring some of our favorite spots around town, and I’m excited to share them with you!

1. Exploring Peanut Island — A Family Favorite
One of our go-to summer escapes is Peanut Island. We love hopping on the ferry and spending the day splashing in the shallow waters and wandering the nature trails. My kids always light up when exploring the Kennedy Bunker, and the bright blue waters and lush greenery make for incredible photos.
Photography tip: I always bring a waterproof case for my phone so I can get close-up shots of their water play without worry.

A visit to Lion Country Safari is an absolute must! Watching the kids’ faces light up as they see giraffes, zebras, and lions up close is priceless. It’s a fantastic way to capture their wonder and excitement in photos — plus, the natural settings give you a beautiful backdrop for animal and family portraits alike.
Photography tip: Use a zoom lens to capture the animals and candid reactions of your kids without disturbing them.
3. Hands-On Learning at Cox Science Center & Aquarium
We recently spent a day at the Cox Science Center & Aquarium, and it was such a fun mix of education and play. My kids loved the interactive exhibits and getting up close with sea creatures — and I got some amazing shots of them engaging with the displays and each other.
Photography tip: Indoor lighting can be tricky, so I usually bump up my ISO and shoot in burst mode to catch those quick moments.

We also love spending afternoons at local splash pads like Dreher Park. There’s nothing better than seeing your kids’ pure joy as they run through fountains and play in the water — those candid smiles are summer photo gold.

One of our favorite weekend activities is biking along the waterfront trails. The ocean breeze, palm trees, and endless smiles make it a perfect spot for family photos that feel both natural and full of life.

6. Local Libraries & Festivals — Creative and Colorful
We enjoy quiet moments too — like storytime and crafts at our local libraries. These moments give me the chance to capture intimate, focused shots of my kids' expressions and creativity. And of course, summer festivals with their bright colors and lively atmosphere are a must for vibrant, joyful photos.
Photography tip: Use a wide aperture to create beautiful background blur and keep the focus on your little ones.
